FUSION PROTECTOR

Fusion Protector is a polyimide (Kapton) adhesive tape specifically designed to protect sensitive electronic components when using electrically conductive materials - primarily liquid metal thermal compounds. Because liquid metal is electrically conductive, any contact with PCB traces, SMD components, or capacitors near the CPU socket can cause a short circuit. Fusion Protector tape creates a reliable insulating barrier. It's also useful for any high-temperature masking task in your system.

Before applying liquid metal, mask: the area surrounding the CPU die (PCB traces near the socket edge), SMD components adjacent to the IHS or socket bracket, any exposed copper pads near the CPU mounting area, and the socket bracket itself if it has exposed metal contacts. On laptops, also mask VRAM areas near the CPU/GPU if you're applying liquid metal nearby. A careful visual inspection before application is essential - take your time.

Clean and dry the surface before applying. Peel a strip from the pack, cut to the required length if needed, and press firmly along PCB edges and around component groupings. The silicone adhesive provides a strong hold with no residue on removal. Apply strips flat without air bubbles - any gap is a potential path for liquid metal seepage. After the repaste is complete, remove strips carefully by peeling at a low angle.

Yes. Fusion Protector tape is chemically resistant to gallium-based liquid metals (including Liquid Fusion Supreme and all major third-party liquid metal brands). It's also resistant to isopropyl alcohol and most thermal compounds. The polyimide film material is unaffected by the temperatures generated by CPUs and GPUs (-50°C to +220°C operating range).

Each package contains 100 strips, each measuring 10mm x 60mm. This is more than enough for multiple liquid metal applications on the same system, or to supply a repair shop or enthusiast with a long-lasting stock. The strips are individually sized for convenient placement around standard CPU sockets without cutting, though they can be trimmed with scissors for smaller areas.
